If you've been around a while, you'll probably remember the static 10/10 complexes. For those that haven't, the 10/10 complexes were sites that spawned in set locations every day after downtime. You couldn't really run them alone, so most alliances would have gangs ready when downtime was over.

The API Dev Blog Trilogy - Volume Two - The types they are a 'changing (Tyrannis 1.2)

By CCP Prism X

'Sup gang! In Tyrannis 1.2 we'll be doing some major architectural changes to the EVE Database which could break your applications that use the EVE API or Static Data Export (SDE - or as some refer to it SDD). These changes were necessary in order to future-proof EVE Online, and it was impossible to get them done without directly affecting the API and SDE. What is the tl;dr? Most itemIDs are now 64-bit integers instead of 32-bit.

The API Dev Blog Trilogy - Volume One

By CCP Stillman

Hey guys, Over the last month or so, CCP PrismX, the operations team and I have been working on improving the overall performance of the API. We still have more work to do to streamline this much-used service and increase its responsiveness. I'll say more about that later, but first I want to explain the fixes we have implemented recently. Improving the API experience for everyone As outlined in this post by CCP Zirnitra, we've been working with some of our high-volume API users to make more eff...

New ship!

By CCP Greyscale
| Comments

When we asked the art department to craft a new ship to give away over the summer, we weren't expecting something quite as awesome as the Primae hull. In retrospect we probably should've seen it coming, given the quality of stuff they consistently turn out, but our minds were on other things. After seeing the finished product though, we agreed pretty quickly that this design was too damn cool to just be used for a limited-run freebie.Even before the Primae was properly finished we were knocking ...

We all know that space is not a safe place: it's cold, violent and deadly. Our own planet is just as harsh, only on Earth the results can be quite deadly. Over the summer, Pakistan was devastated by monsoonal flooding which resulted in over 2,000 deaths, the destruction of over 1 million homes, and an estimated 21 million people homeless or injured.

A Game Master's job is constantly evolving. I would not be lying if I told you that my job three years ago was almost completely different from the job which the Game Master title entails now. Our beloved EVE grows more complex and engaging with each expansion and our community continues to grow.

Fixing Lag: Picking Up Low Hanging Fruit

By CCP Veritas

Greetings folks, Just wanted to toss you folks a quick nugget of what we in the lag-fighting force have been up to lately. This report is for one inefficiency that was found while doing thin-client testing; the result of which has been live on Tranquility for a while now. Hope you enjoy, ~CCP Veritas Player Module Repeat Optimization (8.5 Awesomes) The Problem: Thin client tests showed that modest numbers of clients shooting civilian lasers caused unreasonable CPU usage. Since civilian ...

On Sunday, 5 September 2010, the (player-chosen) primary market hub of EVE Online, Jita, reached the highest official player count in EVE's long history. Fixing Lag: Well, this one doesn't really...

When Dominion was released we started getting reports about pilots being horribly stuck for minutes, sometimes stretching into hours when jumping en-masse into highly loaded systems. We were never able to reproduce this issue in-house which left us with little investigative material. After spending weeks, nay, months reading code, analyzing logs, hacking at the console, trying to grab fights in action (you people fight at ungodly hours) to dig into running code, trying to trace a case of a stuck...
