The CSM - in hindsight and for the future

By CCP Xhagen
| Comments

The Council of Stellar Management is a process that is constantly being revised. It has to be because as a process it serves two constantly evolving entities - you, the player and EVE. Revision can however hardly be done without information and transparency. We want each CSM to be better than the last one, a measurement not necessarily a quantitative integer but also a qualitative measure.

By CCP Elerhino
| Comments

Hello gang, I'll get right to the point. As you probably know already, the sovereignty system is getting a new haircut in the Dominion expansion, switching from mohawk to spikes. Relevant API pages have been altered to reflect the change of style. In short, some rowset columns have been removed, one added and one full new page added. /map/Sovereignty.xml.aspxThis page lists solar systems and their sovereignty information.

Capital Ships In Dominion

By CCP Nozh
| Comments

Every ship needs its niche, a specialized role at which it excels without too much overlap from its closest relatives. With multitasking behemoths like the Capital ships, such balancing becomes a very delicate matter considering the sheer scale of their power. The differences must lie in how and under which circumstances they best project that power - our aim for Dominion is to sharpen distinctions by emphasizing or introducing unique abilities in that regard. In this blog we will brief...

In-Game Browser: Moondoggie’s Latest Adventures

By CCP Pleognost
| Comments

The Slartibartfast team has been hard at work, both on our tans and on the new In-Game Browser (IGB). This is rather tough, as you might imagine: there's little sunlight in Iceland at this time of year, and the demands of web development are ever-changing. However, we wanted to recap some developments over the past couple weeks and describe the path that Moondoggie is currently on. FanFest We had a really great time meeting a number of IGB site developers and IGB users at FanFest 2009! ...

Dominion - Storming the Gates

By CCP Abathur
| Comments

Of the many changes being introduced in Dominion, there was none more thoroughly subjected to scrutiny than how ownership of star systems will change hands. While the basic mechanics have remained the same, the actual flow of how conquest works has been under constant revision for weeks. This speaks highly of the solid work done on the Infrastructure system and how it will allow us to continue improving this aspect of the game in future releases. To arrive at this point we have walked t...

Now, where did I put that fleet?

By CCP Atlas

Now, where did I put that fleet? One of the features that I am personally most excited about for the upcoming Dominion expansion (well, not counting the new browser, the sovereignty changes, the awesome new graphics...). Let me try that again: A thing that I'm reasonably excited about is a cute little feature that we call the Fleet Finder. What's even cooler is that we took the opportunity and worked on the overall fleet UI and some of the basic fleet functionality like the broadcasts. This is s...

Adding flavor to your faction meal

By CCP Ytterbium

I have always been fond of my old Ford Escort. Sure, it was creepy old, slow, bulky, cumbersome and remained some sort of unwanted ancestral legacy passed away from generation to generation in my family, but it was doing what is was supposed to do: leading me where I wanted to go with no "electronics" or any other fancy stuff they put in our cars today just to make them light up like fragile Christmas trees and costing a spleen to replace when they eventually break up.However due to its decaying...

By now, we hope you have had a chance to read Greyscale and Abathur's blogs introducing the driving goals behind the sovereignty changes in Dominion as they both introduce what we want to talk about more in this blog and shed some more light and detail on some changes we are looking at to help us towards achieving our goals for null sec. The focus of this blog is on streams, not the wet kind, but the revenue kind and how each of you, whether the alliance member exploring the depths of s...
