CCP realizes that, for a while, the only thing epic about our massive fleet battles had been the load times and lag. We feel your pain, and progress has recently been made in correcting that. The past few months mark only the beginning of our unyielding mission to re-deliver epic combat and massive fleet warfare back to our players.

On October 20th, the impact of recent performance changes was
felt, as a 700-pilot fleet war lit up AZN-D2 in Feythabolis.
Internal data showed solid server stability throughout the battle,
while players reported a lag-free combat environment. The fruits of
our labor so far have successfully begun to reach their most
important destination - the player experience.
We encourage all corporations and alliances to use our Fleet Fight Notification Form that will allow
Corporation Directors to notify us of upcoming battles of 300 ships
or more. This allows us to place the necessary systems on high
powered blades to ensure you get the best server performance
possible in your fleet fight.

The Council of Stellar Management(CSM) has championed multiple usability enhancements for the playerbase, several of which will be coming to fruition in the Winter release. In Past, Present and Future, a recent blog by the members of the council, their impact on Incursion and previous expansions is detailed along with a brief history of the CSM itself.

Combat pilots, especially in large fleet battles, will experience a more responsive system and improved gameplay as this and several other updates make their way to Tranquility.

The recent server migration of the Tranquility (TQ) servers will provide better network connectivity, fewer intermediary devices and increased capacity for the players of EVE Online. Specs and data on the new system can be found in TQ Level Up by CCP Yokai.

New hardware and software upgrades open new doors
Recent tests of new HS22 Blade Server hardware allowed a record-breaking 2023 players to pack into Jita, the high-traffic trade hub of Caldari space during recent battle testing of the equipment on Tranquility. The test blade used in Jita will soon start taking on fleet fights in efforts to capture more performance data and assess the impact of the new chip architecture and memory on them.

Participants in large fleet battles will see improvements in performance and stability as changes to fighter bomber missiles drastically reduces CPU load.

Low Layer changes alleviate some of the wait from gate jumping in congested systems
According to CCP GingerDude, he recently "did some code monkeying using like, science and stuff" to address the extensive wait players would often experience when jumping into systems with a large fleet present. Players will now find that gate jumping into heavy battles will complete faster, resulting in less wait and more combat for all involved.
