So get ready for a new content patch, a new type of EVE updates from CCP that is much larger in scope than a regular patch and yet smaller than a full expansion. It is our great pleasure to introduce to you the Cold War Edition.

This content patch is an important chapter within EVE and will set the stage for our next expansion - currently codenamed Kali. So get the scoop here on what the Cold War Edition will contain and get ready for some large scale changes.

The New World Order: Rival the Empire's power

The fragile peace sustaining the Empire territories wanes with every passing second as sovereignties secretly vie for advantage over their foes. Nation-Empires will unite to form pacts, old superhighways will shut down…a new world order is forming. Dozens of new passageways into the deep space regions will create unprecedented opportunities for both veteran and new pilot's alike. How will you seize upon the tides of change?

Outposts: Bridge the vast frontiers of the deep

As the Empires look outwards and see the COSMOS Constellations holding the key to their future, manufacturing corporations recognize the need for an interim solution to the basing needs of starships operating in deep space. Enter the Outpost: a compact, cheaper, effective alternative to stations. Not without unique costs of their own, Outposts will still need their own fair share of ISK, minerals, and materials to construct. Also, for the protection of your own assets, they require that your alliance hold sovereignty over the system in which the Outpost is placed.

Jumpdrives: The fearsome Dreadnought enters the battlefield

As the mega corporations devise ways to fulfill their COSMOS objectives, they become equally obsessed with finding ways to thwart their rival's plans. From this obsession with power, the dreadnought is born. This fearsome behemoth is equipped with the most devastating firepower ever mounted on a starship, and her primary mission is to destroy fortified structures such as stations and outposts. Much too large for current stargates to accommodate, the dreadnought is equipped with a jumpdrive, the first time that this hyper-advanced technology has ever been commercially available to starship pilots.

Freighters: The ultimate ship for logistics planning

They say that necessity is the mother of all invention. For certain, COSMOS and the arrival of Outpost technology necessitated the creation of freighters. These leviathans were made to haul up to a million of cubic meters worth of equipment, ammunition, starbase components, and even unassembled starships out to the deepest regions of space. Their immense capacity will undoubtedly become a driving force in the growth of deep space regional economies.

COSMOS Constellations: There is much more to those stars than meets the eye

The mega corporation's fortunes lie within the rich constellations that surround the native systems of the sovereignties. As they expand outwards, great opportunities will present themselves to starship pilots with new professions to pursue, agent encounters in space, new environments to explore, and new technologies to discover.

Leadership Overhaul: Lead your fleet to glorious victory…or humiliating defeat

Weapons technology alone won't be enough to stake your claim within the outer constellations. More now than ever before, leadership will decide what the balance of power is, and who has the uncontested advantage in combat. As part of a general overhaul to fleet warfare, new skills and modules will improve your ability to defend and attack in groups.

Pirate Factions: Better…Stronger…and likely to reveal their secrets if you can beat them

The cartels will not take kindly to the mega corporation's sudden interest in their territory. Commanders and Officers have risen drastically in numbers and will be upgrading their ships and weapons accordingly. Specialized pirate implants will make them smarter, and some of the pirate leadership will be carrying limited run BPC's for fast deployment of reinforcements. Consider yourself warned. But if you succeed, by systematically taking down each of the highest ranked officers in a cartel, you will emerge more powerful than ever before.

Industrial Revolution: Putting EVE's vast resources to work.

All starbase control towers will work on the same cycle as the large towers, enabling small towers to serve as more specialized mining outposts. Medium towers will compete with the large towers over a simple reaction. Final reaction outputs will be boosted to varying degrees, and ice consumption will be slightly lowered. Since the elimination of Tech 2 components as agent mission rewards, total starbase numbers have skyrocketed, with over 700 currently active.

Alliances that hold sovereignty over a system will have decreased starbase consumption rates, since the sovereignty itself will provide some of the fuel. Reprocessing plants will be added to all Empire stations, and trace amounts of zydrine will be added to jaspet, hemorphite, and hedbergite. We believe these changes will significantly raise interest in 0.1 to 0.4 systems.

Combat: Improvements that will add more strategy and tactics to naval warfare.

Missile Warfare: Faster flight times, target-velocity to payload-ratio-damage-output factoring, introduction of new skills to specialize in missile usage proficiency

Logistics Cruisers: Stronger hulls and armor to withstand front-line battlefield punishment

Armor Plating, Shield Extenders, and Shield Boosters: Increases across the board to offer more strategies for combat setups

Mobile Warp Disruptors: Improvements include increased reliability, decreased weights and costs, and the addition of Large Mobile Warp Disruptors

Faction Ammunition: Five words: "Large Dark Blood Multifrequency Crystal"

Cruisers: Faster, more agile, and more versatile than ever before

Drones: Tech Level 2 drones available, Tech 1 mining drones available on the market and drone sizes reduced for easier looting.

Player vs. Player logoff timer: When engaged with another player in combat, your ship will now stay in space considerably. Engaging an NPC is unchanged and warps your ship away as usual.

A tragic story of bureaucracy and the beast may be evolving though, for something else than Blaque’s briefs stinks.

The heroic Team Lai Dai stunned the world with their prowess as they swept the Caldari COLOSSUS Championships last February, taking both the team win as well as individual first, second and third places to the adulation of a thoroughly entertained Caldari State.
